Thoughts for the Day

'The purpose of playing is to hold the mirror up to nature, to show virtue her own feature, scorn her own image, and the very age and body of the time his form and pressure.'

Hamlet’s advice to the players Shakespeare

‘Asking a working writer what he thinks about critics is like asking a lamppost what it feels about dogs.’

John Osborne

Maude LaflammeNew Adventures: In September 2010 Maude Laflamme (Pictured left) took off her LPC hat and entered a new journey into motherhood and in good ol’ Maude style, almost simultaneously, landed a new exciting job to boot. Obviously she has her hands full so she is no longer playing an active role as GM.

She hasn’t left us completely she is just taking a back seat for the time being and we are sure she will be seen again doing what she does best. We would like to thank her for a very exciting and full 2010, for her drive and passion, and for the time she sacrificed in advancing LPC. Lastly we would like to extend our congratulations and best wishes for her future.

LPC would like to welcome Charlie Swallow, this year’s Platform Producer 2011.

Charlie Swallow, trained as a theatre director at Central School of Speech and Drama. Charlie directed Bed of Boxgloves, one of the plays in Short Stuff at Waterloo East Theatre. She has worked with ENO, DreamThinkSpeak and Stand Up Drama. She is currently developing work with her own theatre company – Precipice Theatre – and working on her first full-length production PhyscheScarcoma. She is one of the London Events Organisers for Artists Anonymous. She is the creative producer of Without a Paddle Theatre.
